The story begins in the 1800's, explaining the vampiric rebirth of Lilith Silver (Eileen Daly) at the hands of Sethane Blake (Christopher Adamson). The action moves to modern day London, where Lilith is a black latex clad hired assassin.  Blake is the head of the Illuminate, a powerful secret Occult/masonic organisation, and Lilith has been hired to bump off it’s members one by one. She's pursued relentlessly by the inept Detective Inspector Price (Jonathon Coote) but she always manages to get the better of him. As Lilith gets closer to finding Blake, the odds stack up against her as she battles her way to the inevitable showdown with her nemesis.

I've read many criticisms of Razor Blade Smile, mostly from those who have been force-fed multi trillion dollar Hollywood shite and just don't get it. Dog Soldiers, 28 Days Later, Deathwatch, all British films made on shoestring budgets and piss all over Hollywood's constant output of remakes and teen horror. Razor blade smile cost £20,000; get over it and enjoy one of the very best and most original Vamp films. The divine Eileen Daly is perfect as Lilith, bursting out of her costumes at every opportunity and hanging out in goth bars, mocking Vampire stereotypes. There’s bloodletting galore and plenty of eroticism, including a very lovely scene with Lilith and a gorgeous goth girlie. The ending is unpredictable and a fantastic climax to a wonderful, tongue in cheek modern classic. In Lilith Silver's words: ”I bet you think you know all about Vampires? believe me, you know fuck all!“   S.J.T.
